I made a post for We Won’t Pay! We Won’t Pay! noting the music I’d used in the sound design. It was a fun thing to do, and so I’ve decided to bring it back for The Pillowman – which opens Thursday night!
Here’s a list of artists we’re using in either the house music or internal music in the show. It’s practically a soundtrack circa 1995 when I DJed at a gothic/industrial club. It works though. A lot of the tracks from these artists are more ambient/instrumental tracks. The artists are:
Bigod 20
SNOG
Rosetta Stone
Sisters of Mercy
Rasputina
Switchblade Symphony
Graeme Revell
Oingo Boingo
Bauhaus
Laeather Strip
And quite a healthy dose of Nine Inch Nails – almost exlusively from The Downward Spiral and The Fragile. I didn’t start out to do that, it just sorta happened.
Spooky, eh?
Opening Sat. night of the show is sold out, and Thu-Fri nights are also going quickly.
I am very, highly confident about this show right now. I haven’t felt this strongly about a show I’ve directed in quite a while, and I’m never one to compare “my children.” It’s going to be a great opening for our season. I hope you can make it out.
