Jobsite Theater seeks two scenic interns (scenic carpenter and scenic artist) for the summer. These unpaid internship positions are available only for current students or early-career professionals looking for hands-on experience in theatrical production. This program provides direct interaction with and access to Jobsite Theater’s staff. A letter of recommendation may be available upon completion of the internship. Past Jobsite interns have moved on to paid contracts for the company

Scenic Carpenter interns will work with the TD to fabricate, install, and strike scenery. Interns will be introduced to the following: safe operation of power tools; draft-reading skills; and fabrication of scenic elements. Interns will assist with the show’s scenic build; load-ins and load-outs. This work will occur in both our off-site scene shop and at the theater.
Scenic Artist intern will work with the Scenic Designer and assistant to realize scenic designs from renderings and elevations to final touch-ups onstage. Duties may include: Creating textural and color samples for the scenic designer; Preparing surfaces for paint treatments by carving and adding texture; Color mixing and painting sets that range from realistic interiors/exteriors to the abstract; assisting in fabrication and painting of props; Onstage touch-ups and designer notes given during the tech process and run; and learning proper maintenance of paint shop tools and spray equipment. This work will occur in both our off-site scene shop and at the theater.
