Ami Sallee
Ami Sallee is a freelance theatre artist and interdisciplinary theatremaker with an MFA in Acting from The University of Georgia and a BA in Performance from the University of South Florida. Sallee has been making theatre for Tampa Bay area stages for the last 25 years and is currently an adjunct professor at the HCC Ybor campus. She also gets to make delicious art with her life partner through Gutterfly Productions, a tech theatre and design team here in Tampa. Performance credits include Six Degrees of Separation (Ouisa), I Never Saw Another Butterfly (Irena), Detroit (Mary), and Dinner with Friends (Karen). Jobsite performance credits include Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune (Frankie), Woman in Mind (Susan), The Last Night of Ballyhoo (Aunt Boo), Twelfth Night (Maria), Orlando (The Queen, et al), and she originated roles in both the Tampa and NYC productions of the Joe Popp Rock Musicals Maxwell and Pericles. Sallee returns to the Jobsite stage after an eight-year hiatus, during which she earned her MFA, enjoyed some regional work, helped to get the Tampa International Fringe Festival off the ground, and eventually settled back down in Tampa. She is a recipient of Creative Loafing’s Best of the Bay award for Acting (2001, 2007) and Directing (2003), and Theatre Tampa Bay’s Outstanding Director award (2014).
