This week’s Creative Loafing features a column by Mark Leib noting “9 great performances – actors who made an indelible impression in 2013.” We’re honored to have had 5 of those 9 performers grace our stage in 2013, and to have 3 of them specifically recognized for their role in a Jobsite show.
“The icing on the gravy” is a favorite Jobsite-ism, injected into our argot by Artistic Associate Paul Potenza via Eric Bogosian’s Sex, Drugs, Rock & Roll, and it’s an accurate description of how we feel about the end of 2013. Here’s a list of what we managed to accomplish this year with your support. I’m sure I’ve even forgotten a few things …
2013 highlights

- We increased artist salaries by 35%.
- Hedwig and the Angry Inch raised $820 for the Ybor Youth Clinic, which provides important health services for our community.
- Between Much Ado and Macbeth, we brought in over 850 students.
- We hosted over a dozen public forums, talkbacks, and other engagements that brought artists, scholars, experts, and audiences together.
- We began a partnership with the Tampa Jewish Community Center and Federation with Behind the Gates. Stay tuned for our next project announcement!
- Our Gala took in close to $15,000, helping us inch closer to our goal of paying a living wage.
- We gave artists access to pursue projects they believe in at almost no cost: Jennifer Tuder’s Suicide Punchline, Owen Robertson’s So Long Life, Christen Petitt Hailey’s The Ballad of Hipster McBigballs, another of “ranney’s” one-man jams, Nicole Jeannine Smith and Giles Davies’ take on 4.48 Psychosis.
- 2013–14 is poised to again be our most successful, we’re already breaking records and we’re not even halfway through the season.

We’re fortunate to have such an amazing community around us, from season ticket holders to sponsors to our mighty ensemble Jobsite has become so, so much more than I ever imagined and I know we’re capable of even greater things if we stick together. I look forward to what the future has in store.
From all of us at Jobsite, we hope that you enjoy the remainder of the holiday season and wish you nothing but the very best New Year. We’ll be back on stage with previews of The Hound of the Baskervilles starting Jan. 8. Shows are selling out fast — Jan. 11 and 12 are already gone.
There’s still time to show your love for your friendly neighborhood theater company – a mini season ticket for the remaining four shows is on sale now, and you can still make a 2013 donation to Jobsite. Please remember we’re a 501 (c)(3) not-for-profit arts organization and all gifts made are fully tax deductible to the extent provided by law.
