As part of our opening weekend of David Mamet’s RACE, we are hosting a public forum and talkback following the Sun., May 13 performance. The performance itself is just over an hour and a half with intermission, and we expect the talk to go around an hour. This panel will be hosted by Dr. Abraham Khan (USF Depts. of Communication, Africana Studies) and at this time will also feature me and Alisha Menzies, a student in the USF Communication PhD program whose scholarship looks at critical race issues. We’re expecting one or two more panelists, and will announce those folks as we get confirmation. We anticipate that each panelist will speak for a few minutes on thoughts generated from the play, and then we will open the floor to questions and comments from the audience. This community engagement has been made possible in part by a grant from the Communication for Social Change reviewer’s award, Community Research Alliance.
We hope you join us, please come be part of the conversation! Rehearsals are going great, and we’re looking forward to being in the space and on our set for the first time tomorrow. Do not let this opportunity to see a great story told by four amazing actors get by you. 2011 Best of the Bay Award winning actor Paul Potenza, Tia Jemison, Ned Averill-Snell, and “ranney” are turning in gripping, powerful work that simply should not be missed. I’ve been blessed to have this show in such capable hands. For more information on the show, visit https://www.jobsitetheater.org/shows/race/about.php

Finally, we have a very cool side project going on in the space while RACE is up, written and performed by RACE castmember Ned Averill-Snell. It’s called Little Tunes and it looks like great fun. Ned is a wonderful storyteller, so I’m personally really looking forward to this. Keep in mind that season ticket holders get in FREE, and we also have a special deal to get in for just $1 with a ticket stub to any RACE performance. Check it out: https://www.jobsitetheater.org/shows/littletunes/about.php
Hope to see you all soon at the theater!
