EXCITING ANNOUNCEMENT! We’ve received a generous grant from the Community Foundation of Tampa Bay that will help us continue to do our work in the community while employing artists at competitive wages. These funds will help us better serve the Tampa Bay community in a time when costs to produce live theater in a safe way are at an all-time high.
We’re extremely grateful for this grant. We have invested significant resources since the beginning of the pandemic to provide the region live and virtual programming in the Jobsite Digital Shorts series, outdoors on the Straz Riverwalk Stage, and in the reconfigured-for-distance Jaeb Theater where we’ve so far offered FRANKENSTEIN: THE MODERN PROMETHEUS, TWILIGHT: LOS ANGELES, 1992, DOUBT: A PARABLE, HAND TO GOD and now HENRY V. To date every project has cost significantly more than what has been recovered in sales. We’ve operated this whole time in good faith because we believe this is the right thing to do, and so to see these funds arrive to help offset our losses is a welcome relief.
If you would like to join the relief effort for Jobsite Mon., Apr. 26, is our annual online day of giving. This year we’re calling it #KeepJobsiteRocking. We have a $50,000 goal for the day, and the first $12,500 raised will be matched $1 for $1. We will also have hourly and daily opportunity drawings for some nifty swag and an online silent auction with original art, fine jewelry, and cool experiences!
The Community Foundation of Tampa Bay has been growing philanthropy in Hillsborough, Pinellas, Pasco, Hernando and Citrus counties since 1990. The Foundation’s donors have made possible more than $210 million in grants to nonprofit organizations. CFTB previously helped fund our education outreach efforts for AS YOU LIKE IT, where their generosity allowed over 600 students to attend weekday matinees at no cost.
