Katrina Stevenson was in a coma when she apparently signed up to direct, write, costume and create props for Grimm’s Faery Tales. When she finally came to and realized the enormity of the project, she promptly tried to run away and join a crew of Alaskan deep-sea fisherman, thinking it would be easier work. Unfortunately her escape was foiled when the cast ambushed her at the airport, hog-tied her, and dragged her back to the theater. She is only released from rehearsal so she can be chained to her sewing machine and hot glue gun. She first appeared with Jobsite in 2000 and is an actor, director, costumer and proud member of the Board. Tampa audiences have witnessed the wackiness that is Stevenson in such shows as The Mineola Twins, We Wont Pay! We Wont Pay!, Phyro-Giants!, The Crucible, Shear Madness, subUrbia, Dracula, Murder Ballads, Cloud 9, Delusion of Darkness and Laughing Wild. In 2004, she was voted Best Actress by the readers of the Weekly Planet (she still can't believe it). Her directorial credits include Bloody Poetry, The Tibetan Book of the Dead and the sold-out, I-laughed-so-hard productions of The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged), The Complete History of America (abridged) and The Bible: The Complete Word of God (abridged). Stevenson's costumes have been seen for the last few years in everything from Bloody Poetry to Playing With Fire: After Frankenstein. Her fabulous duds have also garnered a Weekly Planet Best of the Bay award and an Individual Artist Grant from the Hillsborough County Arts Council. As soon as Grimm’s Faery Tales closes, she will be promptly committed to a locked psychiatric ward where she will plan numerous ways to torture the actors of All The Great Books (abridged). |
